Kim Newman takes us on an enjoyable tour of the history of the ‘mad bomber’ film. It’s a fun listen that reminds you how old and varied the genre actually is. discrete effects in either location are not commonplace, there is no mistaking the greater soundstage command and precision integration of both director of Deadpool 2, David Leitch, the end of the line is only the beginning in a wild, non-stop thrill ride through modern-day Japan. We get a well-rounded Dolby Atmos mix that’s sure to please even the harshest critic. Several songs are played throughout, but the lion’s share of the action comes from fights, gunfire and, well, a train crash. Vocals are on par with what I’d expected, though we’ve got a few American actors trying to do their best British accents. They sounded fine to me, but I’m sure there’s bound to be criticism. The surrounds and height speakers do get a workout with some of the non-stop action that ensured in the film. LFE are pretty prevalent, too. Let’s face it: every “thud”, “bump” and everything in between sounds top notch. Supplements: What are the extras? Sony brings Bullet Train to Blu-ray with a striking 1080p image. While the companion UHD is certainly the superior image, there is no mistaking that this 1080p celebrating violence. It's bloody and gleefully so, playing fast and loose with life and death and finding much of its humor in the bloodiestThe Dolby Vision grading reveals a healthy improvement over the Blu-ray as well. The UHD has a somewhat less warm look about it, featuring instead a forward momentum that propels it. However, with all of that intensity comes a feeling that the movie is often flailing about, letting loose because it that Bullet Train has all of its superficialities lined up with an eye to the most robust experience possible. The film is unabashedly concerned counts. Sony's UHD does look and sound amazing, and there are plenty of extras for fans to explore. Highly recommended for fans of this film and its

Bullet Train is an action comedy that is boldly colorful, relying on stylized visuals that employ stark contrast, vivid color and some CGI. I found that this Ultra HD rendering makes the most of its elements. The 1080p transfer looks terrific but, this rendering takes it up a notch with an increase in detail, and emboldened highlights, both light and dark. This is readily apparent in opening as Ladybug walks through the streets of Tokyo, followed by the train station and then as he boards the train. Color reproduction via the wide color gamut is simply gorgeous. Contrast abounds. The interior shots of the train have terrific depth and dimension.Bedroom: Samsung PN59D7000 PDP / Energy Power Bar Elite Soundbar & SW / Astro A50 / Sony PS4 / DirecTV C41W-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 Darblet / Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Sony's 4K release of Bullet Train is unsurprisingly spectacular, demo in every way, with fabulous video and audio and a few extras to round out the set. If you loved the film, it's a no-brainer, this is a lovely looking and sounding release. The Bullet Train also benefits from a starry cast, with some big names both in major roles and cameo appearances. The great Ken Takakura had a long and successful career, including roles in Hollywood as well as Japan, and he’s his usual smouldering self, which is no bad thing. Chiba is unusually cast here as the train driver, a long shout from his karate-fighting roles that he’s famous for. He does a good job though, constantly sweaty and on-edge, helping ramp up the tension when the action shifts onto the train itself. Utsui Ken is particularly good too, as the troubled train network head. the shotgun approach is surprisingly effective... especially since they're firing an automatic shotgun superb along the dominant front end speakers. Action effects offer exceptional depth and detail. Listeners will feel immersed and engaged with every

There is no denying that Bullet Train is full of energy. It's bursting at the seams, fighting with every frame to build on the kinetic

Sony's Blu-ray does look and sound amazing, and there are plenty of extras for fans to explore. Highly recommended for fans of this film and its All Aboard the Pain Train: Stunts (1080p, 5:13): As the title suggests, this piece looks at the film's fight and stunt work inside the There are many trinkets in this film that pop up here and there, making a second watch worthwhile. For example, an escaped deadly poisonous snake on the local news later ends up on the train and actually becomes an interesting thread in the plot. And, a costumed train mascot (played by Zazie Beetz) that gets bullied early on by passengers turns out to be a lethal assassin named The Hornet. What’s also fun is the references to Thomas the Tank Engine made by the assassin Lemon, the “twin” brother of Tangerine played by Brian Tyree Henry.
